Outfit Post: PINK Summers

I first entered into the world of full-time employment after I finished my undergrad degree. It was July I think but I had taken June off and had a few holidays planned that Summer. However ,the next year, around May it occurred to me that the approaching summer was not going to mean long days at the beach, waking up at 11 am and well, yes, heading to the beach once again, or lazing around on the sofa. Those 3 months of summer holidays were lost forever and summer would bring about no change except for what happens on a weekend.
In Malta, students are lucky, they get up to 4 months of summer holidays and that time period consists of glorious weather. Even if as a student, you work during the holidays, it’s generally never that intensive. This realisation had hit me quite hard. I can recall that feeling of bewilderment as though I had just lost something really meaningful. Many years later and I have definitely come to terms with it. Put it this way, the longest holiday period I’ve had over the last ten years is 4 weeks and that happened twice.

This summer is turning out to be even less of a ‘holiday time’ than ever before. It really feels like I just can’t get started onto the whole ‘it’s summer ‘vibe. It’s a mix of being too busy and the weather not always being great. July has some beach time planned scheduled in my calendar so I’m hoping that this and the next month will offer a few more relaxation opportunites for me.
In other news, because it is summer, I’m showcasing the obligatory bikini and it’s PINK .a lovely, bright shade of pink combined with bright blue. I own a lot of things but whenever something pink finds its way into my wardrobe, there’s always a bit of an extra flutter of excitement. The bikini and dress are by Just Cavalli and available in Malta from Rebelli. There’s also a stunning silk Missoni scarf featured within these photos that also has shades of pink and yep gave rise to many, many flutters.
And in the accessory department a pair of Vogue sunglasses are also resting on my face. If you follow my snapchat (@carolinestyling), I unboxed this gift from the company last weekend – probably my only pair of classical sunglasses in my wardrobe.
