Beauty: Losing my Serum Virginity

I read enough beauty articles to know that serums are important, that they can restore skin, prevent aging bla bla bla, the thing is there are so many different products promoted – balms, oils, serums, creams that it can all just get a bit too much. I’ve always used moisturisers, I’ve never skimped out on eye creams but serums..all I’ve ever used was a little sample I received in one gift pack or other. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been trialling the products by skin care guru brand Ericcson Laboratoire and the next product in the queue was this serum, made especially for sensitive skin.
Before beginning this trial, I was given a calming facial called the Cleopatra, it is a nourishing treatment for both skin and hair,  cleans and calms the face but does not include extractions. It is really well priced – 65 euros for both skin and hair and includes a customised moisturiser to take home with you. The facial is performed using this really fab VIVA MILK bar – I think it matches my bathroom.

So I started using this product morning and evening the day after this facial which means I already had happy skin to start off with. After three weeks, yesterday was probably the first time in about two years that I kept my face entirely makeup free for the entire day. I went to work in a rush, planning to get round to applying makeup at some point throughout the day. A bunch of different meetings and things to do land never found the time, however, every time I glanced in the mirror, rather than getting the expected fright, I thought I actually thought I looked quite good. The best compliment came later though, that same day right before bedtime.

The hubby hates the fact that I can’t go straight to bed, that makeup removal duties will be a-calling, infact he rarely waits for me. Yesterday, he turned to me with a sigh and said “you need to take off your makeup right?”, my gleefull “nope, not wearing any” made him look in surprise and he actually said, really? That’s makeup free? Considering he shoots my images and works on them at over 100% zoom, that’s got to mean some sort of real skin improvement. Of course, this incident also gives me ammunition to use whenever he mutters something about why on earth do I need to buy another type of cream / lotion etc – “it’s so you can love my makeup-free face me darling“.
