Body Shape : Bikini For A Pear

Right, so in my previous article I explained how to determine your body shape. Learning Your Body Fruit Shape
For all those pears out there here are some bikini ideas.
What we want to accomplish is – to increase attention to the upper body and bust area and diminish attention to the hip and bum areas, we also want to try and add volume to the upper body so as to attempt to balance out the hips.
There are a few ways in which one can do this, obviously increasing the bust size will help, there’s the cheating idea of using a padded underwired bikini top and literally increasing the bust, pushup tops will also increase your cleavage which would again gain attention. However, slightly less cheating, ruffles add weight so finding a bikini top with some ruffles is a very good idea, otherwise choose a top with patterns or beading or some other kind of embellishment, this will keep focus on your top half. Halter necks and strapless tops will make shoulders appear larger therefore creating a more balanced look.
Now with regards to bottoms most pears make the classic mistake of buying them big so as to cover more area – golden rule is that the more you cover the larger it looks, so keep them smallish and your bum will actually look smaller.
Of course this does not mean go for thongs, thongs are a no no for anyone on the beach and should be kept in the bedroom. Choose plain styles with block colours and avoid patterns so attention remains on the upper half and always stay away from shorts. Also, tie sides generally work better and high leg cuts will make legs look longer.
Generally speaking, pear shaped women will need to buy mix and match bikinis so as to be able to buy a size larger bottoms than top, don’t buy bottoms that are too small, the effect will be horrible and will create dimples and bumps that don’t actually exist.
Can these rules be broken ?? The answer to this question depends on a number of factors, one of them being how much of a pear are you, for those girls with much larger hips than waist or bust, breaking the rules is not a good idea as we really don’t want to highlight our hips, otherwise if there isn’t that much discrepancy then maybe some rules can be broken. Other factors to consider are, height – tall girls get away with more and general weight, a skinny pear can also get away with more than an overweight pear.
Some bikinis around:

From Zara – a padded polka dot bikini top is great for drawing attention and the coral top which can be made strapless will give an illusion of wider shoulders.

From Tally Weijl

A bright strapless top with a darker tie side bottom is a great idea for pears.
