Addicted To Fashion – What Does it Really Mean ??

What does it really mean to be addicted to fashion ? Is it like smoking – something which needs to be stopped and requiring an intervention or do we use the term addiction lightly to really mean ‘extremely keen interest’.
Sometimes the term fashion addict is also attributed to a shopping addict whereas the two are actually different, a shopping addict would generally just be really into shopping but not necessarily for fashion items and a fashion addict might not be that into shopping although I have to admit the latter might be somewhat rare and fashion addicts do usually enjoy shopping more than the average person.

So, I’ve decided to give the term my own interpretation – To be Addicted to Fashion means to be completely in love with all things fashion related – to treat each outfit change as you would an artistic project, to look at clothes and other fashion items as tools in a craft, to be unable to just ‘walk’ by a shop without stopping to view what’s on offer. A fashion addict does not necessarily need to buy  everything in sight, simply viewing or creating a beautiful outfit is enough to make one happy.
The person described above might be easily able to not ‘go shopping’ for a few months or even longer but I think one thing that most fashion addicts have in common is the inability to pass up a perceived good bargain, hence the sheer number of fashionistas generally found at sample sales and other sale events.
To a fashion addict, finding a bargain especially a designer one is like winning a lottery, actually scratch that, it starts from before, on your way to the sale event of some sort, heart racing, sheer excitement at what you might find and then when you find it – I think most fashion addicts can understand what I mean – that feeling you get upon finding that one precious item in your size, knocked down by 50 or 70 %…………….
Speaking for myself, I honestly think that at that moment the item in question starts to  speak to me and calls out to me – telling me to buy it, telling me that if I don’t buy it I will regret it for the rest of my life. During normal shopping I sometimes put things down and say if I still want it next week I will return for it, thereby preventing impulse buys, but that cannot be done in a sale event – you get that one chance and it will then be lost forever *sigh*.
All of the above is my personal opinion and I would love to hear what you guys think ? Do you firmly agree or disagree ? Do you hear the bargain voices too ?
