Runway Malta A/W 2012 – Catwalk Review Julia Schaetz

Runway Malta took place on the 29th Sept 2012 and featured amongst others some international designers from Fashion Across Borders (F.A.B) “Fashion Across Borders is a collaboration between Hasselt Fashion Museum, Fashion Clash (Maastricht) and Design Metropole Aachena”  including Julia Schaetz  the winner of the last edition of the Fashionclash 2012 Maastrich Runway competition.

Ann Boogaerts, winner of Class of 2009 also featured and you can read all about it here Review as well as her Interview here.

Julia Schaetz is a very talented designer who is definitely in love with the colour black !! Her collection is largely minimalistic, however it is obvious that lots of attention was paid to the finer details and certain elements are repeated throughout the collection, infact the collection can be thought of as a capsule collection; most of the items can easily be worn together. The tailoring of each piece is impeccable and gives the items a lot of structure and definition

I love the details on the sleeves on the piece below and the somewhat fringed hem, feels slights fantastical.

This tunic trouser suit below finds the perfect balance between smart and relaxed attire, whislt the impeccable tailoring keeps it looking smart, the wide loose fit stops it from looking stiff and thereby giving off a somewhat relaxed but polished vibe. I especially love the tunic jacket…you could easily separate it and wear it on jeans for a more casual look.

Very interesting piece that can really be dressed up with some fabulous accessories and worn out for a special occasion.

Beautiful slouch coat with a massive  ‘little red riding hood’ style hood, the trend for this season’s coats is as large as can be and this one is no exception.
