Today was the first Malta Fashion Week 2013 fashion show – and what a show it was !!!! Parisian bridal glamour by Farage Paris brought to our shores by
Wedding Bells headed by the lovely
Marquita Kemper (who is truly a genius at bridal styling). The lovely show was hosted at The Xara Lodge; with its lovely garden, lovely ballroom and beautiful surroundings this is truly a delightful place to host your own wedding reception.
The gowns were truly stunning modelled by the beautiful
supernovamodels holding lovely flower bouquets by
Alistair (suck a lovely mix of colours !!). I also really loved the hairstyles done by the brilliant
Marielle of Prive, the different styles really matched the different gowns perfectly. The makeup done by
Elaine Galea was also lovely, the models looked really pretty, without being overdone which is exactly how a bride should look !!
Soo let’s focus on the dresses. The best thing about these dresses is that they are really original, there’s absolutely nothing boring about these gowns.
The second best thing about them is, that being couture, they are entirely customisable, so any part of it that isn’t quite to one’s taste can be altered and reworked. Infact, one thing I noticed is that some of the dresses had some transparent sections; which is something a bride might not always like; however apparently this could easily be changed without affecting the overall design of the dress. The third best thing is that they can also be ordered in any colour- which means that these are not just for brides or at least that’s what I decided :P.
There were a number of distinctive elements in the gowns: ,however lace was the one key element, and what beautiful lace workmanship it was; not just on the gowns but even on the veils, really gorgeous.
I was also very impressed with the bodice of the gown, I loved the fact that they were all ‘actual’ ‘true’ corsets, no zips or buttons please, only ribbons were present here.
French Lace, lace guipure, silk taffeta, Swarovski crystals and beautiful embroidered lace motifs all made appearances. The style of dresses range from mermaid dresses, trumpet dresses, princess gowns to vintage inspired more original ones.I was also truly in love with what I’ve decided to call the ‘jewellery on the dress’, made from a mix of metal, pearls and Swarovski crystals, with this much ‘jewellery’ on your dress, there’s absolutely no need for you to wear any !! Check out the ‘jewellery’ on this dress modelled by Vikky.
My favourite item in the whole show was ironically not a dress this ‘veil-bolero’ pictured below modelled by Katrina; this tulle creation with intricate silver lace cuff detail, that’s not just a veil but also a bolero, is absolutely divine !! Having already been a bride myself and with no plans to revisit the altar, most of these designs gave me pangs of nostalgia…but this ‘veil-bolero’ was the icing on the cake….I was ready to shake off my vows and throw away my ring, all for the chance to get to wear this !!
Another dress worth a mention is this vintage inspired one, with these little sleeves and a chain detail at the back closing, this dress is so original that I think one could almost get away with wearing this dress not as an actual bridal dress !!
And last but definitely not least, this gown modelled by the gorgeously divine Madeline is truly spectacular, she looked like some kind of female goddess wearing it – this is the colour every redheaded bride should wear !!
