My Styling Work : Miss World Malta 2013

As do most countries round the world, Malta participates yearly in the Miss World Competition. To choose Miss World Malta a local competition is conducted and there is a TV show (Miss World Malta Contestants TV Program) that goes hand in hand with this competition.
Some few months ago I worked on a photoshoot for this television show, together with photographer Kurt Paris (the hubby). The first order of the day was to choose a theme and being a huge lover of vintage and modern fashion fusions I chose  ‘Lace & Neon’ as our theme; lace being our vintage symbol and neon our modern trendier element . The  beautiful The Xara Palace Relais & Châteaux was chosen as the location.

Check out the photos and outfit descriptions below
Model : Michela Galea

The figure hugging dress suits Michela’s slight frame and adds a huge pop of colour, contrasting with her jet black hair, the lace peplum shape evokes a 50’s sentiment whilst the bright lipstick takes us back to ultra modern. In the first photo (the group photo) she also wears a multicoloured tweed jacket, adding a bit more formality to her outfit.

The combination of sheer material and lace detailing makes for a very striking gown. The pop oh neon on the hands along with neon flashes on the collar give the outfit an original touch. The red lipstick is a classic beauty touch which harks back to the Mesopotamian women. In the first photo (the group photo) she also wears a pink fur stole to give her a more dramatic air.

The lace hem detail, the interesting different lengths of the dress and the lace waistband really suit Martine’s body shape. The vintage fur stole in the rightmost photo along with the pearl necklace remind us of a time gone by. Her neon necklace and bracelet tie her back to the present whilst her body painted lace collar in the left photo is an original, eye-catching detail. In the first photo (the group photo) she also wears a lace shawl which enhances her natural Mediterranean look.
