Bora Aksu is a Turkish designer that believes in intricate detailing, that always tells a story with his collections. The story this time round is inspired from the song bird in Oscar Wilde’s The Nightingale and the Rose – ‘ a lone nightingale that makes the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuits of another’s love ‘.
The pieces are splendid with a display of a high level of workmanship. Long, lean silhouettes in places combined with voluminous textures and delicate embroidered dresses in others. There’s a definite air of femininity in this collection that is wonderful to see in a sea of largely androgynous fashion. The lilac hand sewn roses adorning the dresses stole my heart along with the gold thread woven textiles.
Interesting Note – Presenter Laura Whitmore walked in the show looking rather different with this hair style.
