Following my review post from a few weeks back, here are two more MaxFactor goodies reviews. Before we get started, I want to know if I’m the only person who does this – I constantly look at my makeup box and despair at all the products competing for my attention but yet still find myself gravitating towards the duty free in search of more makeup every time I’m in an airport?
Today’s products are focused on illumination and shimmer, I love these products for summer but they need to be used sparingly, we definitely don’t want that dreaded oily, sweaty look. The trick is to use highlighting products only in places like the cheekbones, eyes, eyebrows but not for example in the T-Zone area. In the case of illuminating foundations, especially for oily skin, you might want to put some powder over your T-Zone area.
MaxFactor Skin Luminizer Foundation Review
Texture: This foundation has a nice texture and a little goes a long way, it is quite easy to blend although I do prefer not applying it directly onto skin. I prefer applying it a few minutes after having applied moisturiser or a primer.
Colour Match: The colour version I tried is Golden, which is actually too light for my skin tone but there is quite a range of colour options. I suggest you try them out before choosing a specific shade.
Skin Result: The foundation is not a heavy one but at the same time does provide coverage, any small spots or blemishes are easily covered up, It also does provide a glow to the skin but I dare say this effect will be better achieved if the colour is a true skin colour match.
Staying Power: It does last but if you’re putting it to the test in the intense Malta summer heat, I suggest using a fixer spray on top.

MaxFactor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow Review
Texture: This product has an interesting texture – almost like a mousse but heavily pigmented, also it does not provide too much shine and isn’t greasy. It is quite easy to blend but be careful, start off with a little bit of product and build up to more if necessary.
Usage: I like using this product not just as an eyeshadow but also as a cream bronzer on my cheekbones, and as an eyebrow highlighter.
Staying Power: The product suffers, when worn as an eyeshadow it creases pretty soon, when applied over an eyeshadow primer results are of course much better. Used as a highlighter, longevity results are better.
