London Fashion Week – SS16 – GILES DEACON

Giles Deacon’s SS16 show at London Fashion Week, showcased last night was an extraordinary work of art – clothes so stunning they give flight to your imagination, sending you off on an adventure. The show was presented in an intimate setting at the Banqueting Hall in London and had some of the most important models in the industry walking in it Eva Herzigova, Karen Elson, Poppy Delevingne, Bella Hadid, to name a few.

I went backstage before the show to watch the fantastic Toni&Guy LabelM team at work. The inspiration for this hair look was a woman who’s worn a wig but left the ends out in a disheveled manner – after a night of partying and dancing, once the wig is removed the hair is sweaty and the roots are slightly matted and stuck to the hair.

Sweaty braids were created, in on look the braids themselves were pulled very tightly with dishevelled ends left loose and unbraided with a sweaty, separated, wet-look effect. In others, the braids were constructed in different parts, the back was braided and loomed around the head, the hair at the top of the head was pulled tight from the roots and then the rest was braided from underneath. The braids are not perfect braids, there’s an undone feeling to them, an organic dryness. The looks are a harmony between touches of both feminine and masculine styling, the masculine touches were especially present in the way the roots and the front part of the hair was styled.

What I found fascinating is that just two LabelM products were used – Texturising Volume spray and Rejuvenating Oil – I would have expected a cocktail of products for such a look. All the best Toni&Guy hair stylists were there – Indira herself, Cos Sakkes, Efi Davies and many more
