In Spring We Wear SUNGLASSES

I recently went over to O’hea Opticians in Gzira to play around with a few different styles of sunglasses and get a feel for what looks best sitting on my face.

For many people, buying a new pair of sunglasses at Spring is almost a ritual of sorts, a kind of herald to the long-awaited Maltese summer. In my case, I must confess that buying sunglasses is not always something I tend to do all that frequently. For me, it’s simply not always that great an experience. I have a small face and it is quite narrow. This means that very often all the shapes I like are a bit big for me. I was pleasantly surprised that I actually liked 4 pairs, I wasn’t really planning on posting about that many but then I couldn’t decide which to leave out soooo ..oh well.

The first pair below are by Fendi. Fendi’s selection for SS 2016 is quite bright and colourful. These have an interesting cat eye shape with a groove indent that makes them seem quite unique. I liked the way they framed my face and also the fact that the cat eye didn’t jut out too far from the sides.

This square pair below by Prada would not normally be something I would go for. They were picked out by the team in store and I liked them on. I especially like the fact that the bridge is so discreet, I think that’s really flattering and draws much less attention to the nose.

The next pair are by Etnia Barcelona and like anything Spanish, they have that unique flair. I love the round shape and the fact they’re SMAL – look nothing jutting out from anywhere. I’m not fully convinced about the colour against my skin tone but then again I don’t have a tan yet.

These last ones are my favourite. They are by Silhouette which is a brand mainly renowned for spectacles and their supremely lightweight materials. They recently teamed up with New York designer Wes Gordon for this to create a special edition of their renowned Titan Minimal Art frame. These shades…you practically cannot even feel them on, they are so comfortable..and I mean look how great they look.
