Gadget : MISFIT SHINE II

I’ve been wearing my Misfit Shine from Sun Lab for approx a month and a half now. In that time I’ve probably given an explanation as to what it is and what it does every single day – it’s that eye-catching and interesting. So what is it ? It’s a tracker – meaning it monitors your daily steps movement and sleep patterns. It tells you both how active and lazy you are.
Opinion
So the Misfit Shine II is a looker, there’s no doubt about it, the circular rose gold face is an eye catcher and looks great worn on the wrist. It is probably the most stylish tracking device around. The great thing is that it doesn’t actually need to be worn on the wrist – it can also be worn around the ankle or attached to your skirt or trousers using a provided belt clip. It monitors steps by monitoring movements. It doesn’t monitor heart rates thus allowing for more wearing options. That’s really my only con with this device – I wish it could also monitor my heart rate as that would make it more useful during a gym workout. It does however cleverly recognize when you’re performing physical activity like running or walking and is also fully waterproof so it can be worn during a swimming workout. It is not a watch – it does sort of tell you the time by lighting up the dots around the face which are positioned to resemble a clock but I wouldn’t call it a watch. This also means it doesn’t have a stop watch feature.
Using Bluetooth, the device syncs to a mobile app and allows you to view your statistics across different days. One of my favourite things is it’s ability to recognise the quality of your sleep, meaning how much of it was restless. It also has the ability to wake you up by a certain time by vibrating. In all the time I’ve been wearing it, it has never broken down or given me any sort of problems. The fact that I don’t need to wear it around my wrist means I’ve managed to wear it practically every single day. This is a device perfect for those who would like to use something to monitor their daily activities and habits and keep track of whether they are getting enough exercise in their lives. It probably isn’t for those had core gym goers who want to measure their heart rate precisely but then again those people should probably stick to an actual heart rate monitor watch. It’s also really stylish – which means people ask you – “how cool what is that” ?

The Misfit Shine II is available exclusively from Sun Lab.
