It’s not every birthday that I get to spend in a hot tub – scratch that..I’ve never spent any of my January birthdays in any water of any sort before this year. Last weekend I celebrated my birthday and to eliminate any possibility of my feeling sad about getting older, I made sure to celebrate in the best possible way – a glorious, glorious weekend with the hubby at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Malta.
I love hotels, it’s a good thing I guess considering how much I travel lately. The downside is usually lack of space but space was definitely not an issue last weekend. My room was quite frankly huge – I had a corner room with a huge double bed, a massive bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub, a nice big sofa and tv area and a beautiful corner terrace with deck chairs and a hot tub. On the last day, I kept asking for later and later checkouts, probably hoping they’d just tell me I could move in.
So what did I get up to? I checked in on Friday at about 5, immediately a birthday gift arrived from the hotel – a chocolate sculpture and a bottle of champagne. It really felt like such a shame to destroy the work-of-art by eating it but chocolate is chocolate and dig in I did.
Next on the birthday agenda was dinner at the Radisson’s restaurant Le Bistro with my family. I wore a new pair of culottes I had been saving for when I wanted to feel extra special. I really enjoyed all my meal but the best part was the Gucci cake they surprised me with at the end of the night.
Next day, it was actually a bit hard to wake up – I felt so relaxed and happy. I don’t often relax properly but when I do I realise just how much I needed it. I woke up because the hubby wanted breakfast, hotel breakfasts are so much fun although I always get confused and end up taking too many things on my plate and not managing to eat them all.
Thankyou Radisson for taking such good care of me and for making me feel really happy on my birthday.
