The downside of attending and watching a lot of fashion shows is that sometimes you can become a bit jaded and hard to please, it becomes harder for a collection to truly excite you. Last Friday, I got excited from the first moment I saw Ritienne’s collection backstage. I’ve always loved her work but this time I found something different, I found it fresher, more relatable, more fun perhaps than her previous one. It is also highly wearable, they are statement pieces of course but not in the sense that you can’t wear them unless it is a fashion event, they’re pieces you can wear many times over and have fun with.
Her inspiration this time round was Valetta which in fact led to the title I Love Valletta. I adore Valletta, I think it is one of the most interesting places on earth, I’m happy just walking around, looking at all the hidden details of the different building, absorbing the old shop windows, imagining all that these roads have seen throughout the years. Much like Valletta, Ritienne’s collection needs to be seen a few times to be properly appreciated, the details of her fantastic prints, her use of bright blue within a less vibrant colour palette – all such great features. I truly loved his collection and thought it a perfect ending to a great week. Chris Galea and Elaine Galea also did a great job with hair and makeup looks. The lip colour was a perfect complimentary shade to the outfits whilst the hairstyles and wigs kept it feeling fun.
If you want to view the collection Ritienne is available for appointments, she’s a lovely, lovely person who will gladly sit and talk with you about it so if you’re interested, just go.
