Do you remember your first gold necklace or bracelet? I do, I remember watching the gold sparkle against my skin, I remember the feeling of wearing something precious, of feeling that little bit more grown up. I rekindled some of these feelings when I received the latest new collections from Gram Collections.

Along the years, I witnessed the decline of what I like to term ‘ real jewellery’ and the introduction of what was popularly referred to as ‘costume jewellery’. We started to shun gold and silver in favour of trendier, sparklier, more bombastic pieces made with man-made materials. And then, once again, there was a shift, we started to tire of falling in love with pieces that couldn’t withstand being showered in, that wouldn’t last the test of time. We also started to seek out vintage items, to be inspired by pieces and looks from bygone eras and so we once again fell in love with gold.

Current days and it has now become much more commonplace to buy pieces made with 18k gold plated 925 silver or even if our budgets allow, solid 18k gold.
