Touches of Gold & Diamonds

I am pretty sure that throughout my lifetime I have bought myself something from each fashion category. When I say bought myself, I mean ‘walked into the store and parted with my hard earned cash’ not received as a gift. What I haven’t ever bought myself is jewellery. I don’t mean costume jewellery, there’s plenty of that kind of shopping going on, I mean a piece of expensive jewellery that lasts a lifetime.

Practically all of the lifetime pieces of jewellery I own were gifts, some from my parents or other family members, some from the hubby, maybe some carried over from baptism and such events – you know the gist. To be fair, Maltese traditions call for jewellery to be given as a gift to girls on many such occasions. The problem is that now I’ve sort of come to expect it to remain that way. If I see a piece of jewellery I really want, I can’t bring myself to buy it, I’ll throw hints around but I’d feel odd to gift it to myself.

I was wondering if I’m the only person to feel this way, so I did a bit of digging around. Turns out I’m not the only one. I even checked as to whether it is a price thing, jewellery with certain materials like gold and diamonds can escalate in price. I think it’s mainly about the romance of it all, the idea of wearing a piece someone who loves you picked out, the idea of wearing something that will always remind you of that person rather than how much you spent on it.

To put an end to my yammering on, the point I’m trying to make is that it’s Christmas time and the perfect time to – if you’re a bloke reading this, buy it for your gal – if you’re a lady reading this, throw a few hints or a share his way

Now in this post, there’s a pair of earrings, a ring and a necklace all 24k gold and diamonds. My ultimate, ultimate favourite item is the pair of earrings. I honestly fell in love with them. So much so that I almost broke my rule….they’re so elegant but at the same time, so not boring..so classy, ooh they’re just so me…
