Recently, I’ve become a bit more ‘knowledgeable’ and ‘aware’ of what I’m putting on my face and body. This generation cares so much about clean eating and organic food but I think when it comes to skin care, hair care etc – we care less. SPLAT is a new generation toothpaste that cares a lot and in fact, none of their toothpastes contain any synthetic antiseptic agents like triclosan or chlorhexidine.
For the past month or so, I’ve been battling a small allergic rash on my face for the past month or so – yes I know it doesn’t show in photos but I did avoid posting photos during one of the flare-up moments. It’s under treatment and under control now but before I found the time to visit a dermatologist, I did some of my own research. One of the triggers is apparently fluoride toothpaste and whilst the benefits of fluoride for enamel is an ongoing debate, I’ve decided for the immediate future, to go fluoride free. SPLAT do have fluoride versions but I requested a trial batch of completely fluoride free ones to try.
The brand is super fun – I love the packaging and the different names and colours they’ve given to each model – and there are soooo many. The hubby was also given a few to try so you’ll get his thoughts on them too.
A toothpaste called LOVE – corny as hell but makes me smile each time I use it.
The Blackwood is my current fave – “Karelian birch charcoal whitens enamel, absorbs odours and contaminants, as well as forms the unique shiny black colour of the product”. Made from charcoal, this toothpaste has absorbing ingredients that will make your teeth whiter as you clean – the black colour is super fun too. There doesn’t seem to be a specific flavour to this one
The Gold contains royal jelly and diamond extract which maintains local immunity and provides antibacterial protection The toothpaste has a champagne flavour.
I asked for a sensitive, soft toothbrush too, my teeth can get super sensitive as I suffer from TMJ so I prefer using a softer toothbrush most of the time.
These below are the hubby’s and he didn’t even let me try the chilli one – he imprisoned it – apparently the after taste flavour after eating is a great feeling.
Neither of us have tried the extreme white yet but it’s meant to be pretty good at whitening your teeth.
The berries one has a really lovely taste and the sea minerals has extracts of algae, spirulina and rockweed, wih a kind of tangy sea-like flavour.
The organic toothpaste is completely free of anything potentially harmful and is apparently safe to use during pregnancy too. It is also great for very sensitive teeth so I use it when my teeth are extra sensitive, which sometimes happens.
I gave this one below to my niece and apparently she liked the flavour so much, she ate it. Her mum finds the brush really convenient to brush them for her herself too – allows her to get in properly so to speak.
