My Styling Work : Bridal Styling For All Body Shapes

Many’s girls dream about their wedding dress from a very young age – many grow up with this vision still in their heads. Although, we all wish to fulfil our dreams, it is very important to ensure that the shape you’ve grown into suits this dream dress.
Find your body shape at Learn Your Body Shape
  • For pear shaped women – choose a dress with a skirt that flares out in an A-line, this will emphasise your small waist and will skim away from hips and thighs. For pears with small busts – if you choose a strapless gown, ensure the gown is tight enough from the bust, have it taken in if needed.
  • For apple shaped women – choose a dress that cinches in at the thinnest point on your waistline, generally at the natural waist, just above the belly button, then flares into an A-line shape. Opt for a dress that has a lot of texture on the the top bodice, maybe some ruching or lace detailing and that fits snugly, this will camouflage upperbody fat. Choose a deep v neckline, this will draw attention away from your stomach area.
  • For heavily busted women – choose a dress with a scooped neckline. This will show not show too much cleavage but at the same time not look too conservative of tight laced. If a strapless gowns is a must, choose one with a sweetheart neckline, rather than a straight neckline, a straight line will make bus appear larger.
  • For inverted triangle shaped women – choose a dress with thick straps but do not cover your shoulders as we do not want to bulk them up, don’t choose a halter style as this will make shoulders appear wider, a one shoulder will be flattering as it will break the symmetry. A full skirt will add bulk to your lean lower body and balance our your shoulders, an A-line might be enough to do the trick depending on the difference between your shoulder width and hop width.
  • For rectangle shaped women – we need to create a waist, an empire waist that cinches in just under the bust or around the natural waistline will emphasis the narrowest parts of the upper body. Ideally there should be some details around this waistline such as beading, or a colored sash. Again a fuller skirt such as a ballgown skirt will give the illusion of hips creating a more womanly effect.

Model: Leah Vella

Leah is a thin inverted triangle shape as her shoulders are wider than her hips, however the full skirt makes her hips look larger and the detailing around her waist, defines it and makes it look smaller. Also, the one shoulder neckline, does not bulk up her shoulders. The results is a womanly curvy shape.
