Body Shape : Clothes For An Apple

Sometimes the way we dress can greatly influence the outward appearance of the shape of our body. It is very important what works for your body and what doesn’t. Although every body is different from another we do have basic rules that can generally be applied to a category of body shapes. You can determine your body shape at Learn Your Body Shape.

Today this post is focusing on apples – an apple generally has a heavier upper body with leaner legs and a smaller bum, an ample bust might be present but this is not always the case. Last point is that shoulders are usually broader than the hip width.

Do’s
Show off your cleavage, without looking vulgar, it is a good idea to show off some cleavage and draw attention to your bust and away from your stomach but don’t go too low-cut so as to avoid any vulgarity – scoop necks and v-necks will work best at this.

Wear a-line and fuller skirts, this will make your waist appear smaller. Choose skirts that fasten at the side so as not to add bulk to the middle, ideally they should also be flat fronted.

Use layering – layering is an apple’s best friend, choose well-tailored structured jackets that nip in at the waist and wear them over something like a loose-fitting, thin camisole top; the bottom layer should be thin so as not to add bulk. Choose longer jackets rather than shorter ones as these will work better at concealing stomach fat. Cardigans can also work well especially long loose ones, again wear them over thin tops.
Wear dresses and tops that have an empire waistline, these will emphasis your thinnest point on your upperbody and draw attention away from your heaviest parts.
Wear wrap dresses – the position at which these dresses fasten are great at hiding midsection fat.
Wear light coloured jeans, this will add bulk to your legs and bum, making them appear curvier. Back pockets will also help.
Don’ts
Wear baggy or slouch trousers, your legs and bum are your best assets, show them off !! Instead choose tailored, well-fitting trousers, bootcut trousers and jeans should be flattering to your figure as they will balance out your upper body. Skinny jeans are comfortable but not you best option, if you do decide to go for them wear them with something lengthening such as a vertically striped top.
Cover yourself up in lots of big clothes, you will just appear larger.
Don’t wear very tight trousers, this would emphasise you lean legs and by comparison make your stomach seem fatter.

Don’t wear thick belts.
