Catwalk Review: Moda Maltal Fashion Show

Yesterday Modelle International treated us to a lovely fashion show at Xara Lodge; stunning venue. A number of different local clothes and jewellery stores exhibited their stock mainly made up of beautiful dresses. In this post I will be reviewing favourite clothes shows of the night……

The event was very well organised, with a lovely goody bag presented to all attending ladies and an interesting layout used for the catwalk which enabled everyone to be able to see the models well. What was very ‘different’ is that there were models ranging from size 6 to 14; traditional fashion generally favours skinny girls. The good thing about this, as my friend Lorraine from www.wearealldivas.com put it, is that it enabled larger sized people attending to be able to see how a dress would really fit them rather than relying on imagination.
So anyway … thumbs up to the organisers for a great fashion show !!

The show kicked off with Tango (Valletta), for those of you unfamiliar with this store, Tango is a stored in Old Bakery Street Valletta that imports mainly evening dresses ranging from full out gala glamour to cocktail hour. The dresses presented throughout the show were beautiful and there was an excellent range from ultra fussy sequinned to more plain numbers for the more conservative. The standout dress for me was this patterned pleated number that I would just love to swish around in. I also loved a Spanish inspired black dress that has a bodice as the top part and then tulle like flounce with a high slit as a skirt.

POIS (Sliema) also exhibited, their clothes were less ultra glamour and more dinner date smart, the kind of dresses that you can dress up and down. Expecially worth mentioning is this textured floral coat with raw edges that just made me want to run up and steal it off the model as she walked by.

Also exhibiting was Label C (Sliema), this store is a recently opened store next to La Rive in Sliema that carries some beautiful stuff incl goregous leather handbags. The style is classy and smart but at the same time a lot of the pieces have something original about them. I fell in love with the jacket below, tweed plus leather together makes for definite fabulousness and I loved the use of fur on otherwise boring serious outfits.
Milu by Mimi (Zebbug) is a great place to shop from when searching for a special dress for a wedding/party, some truly stunning pieces for all shapes and sizes. There were also some really pretty skater stlye dresses that are very in trend this season and look lovely on young people; the crazy sequinned dress below might be the perfect dress for a sweet sixteen or 18th birthday party 🙂 This stunning floor length number was probably my favourite dress of the night, subtle glamour at it’s best…does require a perfect figure as Shana (the model) does have.
