As far as styling goes, styling Gladiator was no mean feat –with a limited expenses budget and Malta being very limited as far as rental opportunities go, it was a bit of a struggle. Nonetheless I think we were a great team and achieved a lot and I am very satisfied with the result. Soooo onto the styling details….
The leather tunic’s in the pictures below are similar but not identical to the tunics worn in the movie however they are authentic as far as Roman Gladiators traditional wear goes.
The helmet worn by our ‘maximus’ is an actual replica of the one worn in the movie that the photographer (the hubby 🙂 ) thankfully bought
As you might be noticing I used blue material on all the Gladiators to resemble the blue sack tunics worn by the gladiators in the movie. The armour we found for Maximus was a brilliant find as although not a replica looked very authentic.
Lucille was another difficult person to style, in the movie, the dresses and jewellery worn are not that typical of a Roman Empress and also seem to have an Egyptian element but I was met with some resistance that thought she should be dressed like a Roman empress. To capture a similar style to that used in the movie but retain the Roman spirit, I used gold toned jewellery, a red velvet cape and a dress with some heavy gold beading and adorning.

Tonight Venere is on again at 21:45 and the theme is Pulp Fiction !! – should be a good one
