Events Post : Miu Miu Autumn/Winter 2013-2014

Polka dot lovers must right now be swooning over the Miu Miu Autumn/Winter 2013 fashion show; the pattern was definitely the main element in the catwalk show, which just played out in a beautiful setting in Paris. Practically every model that walked down the runway had at least one item of clothing made out of the pattern whilst some models were dressed in the pattern head-to-toe !! The striped pattern also made an appearance although not quite as prominent a one.

Whilst the polka dots and stripes added an element of fun to the outfits, the collection displayed some beautiful, impeccable tailoring with an underlying sense of elegance and with a nod to times gone by.

There seemed to be the inspiration of the powerful, vintage woman, also seen at it’s big sister’s Prada’s show in Milan, a few weeks back. However, here unlike at Prada, there were interesting twists to the outfits such as exposed zips on long coats, striped socks, chunky polka dot boots and perspex Mary Jane style shoes.

I loved how frilly petticoat like dresses were worn under elegant coats and jackets and form fitting structured dresses; this seemed to be reminiscent of the fifties frilly petticoats. I also enjoyed seeing fur coats worn with coloured waist belts which made the outfit appear much ‘younger’ and fresher. The same was done with different jackets, continuing the outerwear worn as belted dresses trend seen on many designers of late.

There were also some beautiful bags on show of course !! Including one massive over blown one !!
