The Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 exhibited yesterday and as usual Marc Jacobs definitely met and exceeded our expectations.Beautiful, luxurious, and elegant are all adjectives that can be used to describe the collection.
The setting was staged as a hotel corridor with many doors opening and closing (with models sauntering in and out of these doors).
This setting was meant to reference the ‘walk-of-shame’ after spending the night in a hotel and models all wore, dark shaggy wigs, giving the girls a mysterious heroine air. The Marc Jacobs show, seen earlier this month, was all about pyjama and bedtime references, this was more about boudoir and elegant sexiness, with satin nightgowns and luxurious lingerie teamed with fifties duster coats.
Just like in the Miu Miu show, there was a nod to the fifties here, with tiny wasp-like waists accentuated with belts and exquisite tailoring. Feminine, light patterns were favoured here with different motifs being used such as flowers and butterflies.
The accessories were most definitely not neglected with alligator, mink, all used to create wonderful , unique bags. Interestingly enough, no logos were present, seeming as though Louis Vuitton is looking to distance itself from the logo monogram bag design that precedes its fame.
I absolutely loved this classic tweed heritage coat with feathers.
And for the final piece – Kate Moss who hasn’t been seen on a catwalk sine 2011, sauntered down the runway, wearing this sheer dress with floral appliqué her appearance was met with thunderous applause.
