The Day is finally here – the New Designers Fashion Show is taking place today at Xara Lodge Malta !!
For this event, I will be helping out with styling backstage so follow my facebook page for live updates !!! Last Thursday, I started shining the spotlight on each of these ‘new designers’, a different one was presented each day.
Here are are all the designers and the links to their interviews grouped together :
Will present 6 pieces varying from suits to evening dresses. She have worked with materials such as lace, satin and silk chiffon. Read her interview here
Will present 6 different looks, each of them having an original feminine touch, using various materials and items such as fur, feathers, chains, expensive fabric and a lot of bling. Read his interview here
Will present a collection that is fun, feminine but also androgynous. It is minimalistic but wearable. It is aimed it at business people who want to look smart, but not boring and want to stand out without being too over the top. Read Martina’s interview here
Natalya Vassallo
Will present knitted and felted items using Maltese products and different techniques. Read her interview here
Will present CHROMA 2013; A cocktail of mosaic from recycled magazines, watercolour and ink brush strokes, 60’s geometric designs, and overlapping of different layers of clothing. Read their interview here
Will present a collection is showing a contrast between two emotions, which are the emotion of love and rebellion. It is based on two particular styles, baroque and punk Read her interview here.
Also presenting is Sef Farrugia who was interviewed a few months back here and was not interviewed again but she has sent us some info below:
Her Award winning collection ‘Casa Azul’ is inspired by a mixture of influences, the main inspirations were Frida Kahlo’s poetry , her home which the collection is named after, her painting ‘ Roots, also a hint of Comedian Carmen Miranda’s Latin appeal and her vibrant personality. It’s a fusion of handcrafted knitwear alongside hand-drawn illustrations on fine satin silks and thousands of hand-cut / hand-sewn organza floral shapes.

This year, I have decided to showcase my new Bohemian Collection – perhaps a stark contrast when compared to last year’s Black and White collection. With this collection, I feel like I have gone back to my roots. This season, I wanted to create designs with an ethereal quality to them.
