Since
this is the Mercedes Fashion Week, it is only fitting that
one of the shows takes place in the Maltese Mercedes-Benz
Showroom. Guests were treated to a small reception prior to the
start of the show, amongst the beautiful cars, after which they sat down to view this amazing
presentation of jewellery history.

The models from supernovamodels.com.mt
did a brilliant job of displaying this collection. They were dressed entirely
in black, a wise choice that kept the focus entirely on the jewellery.

Their makeup by Mateja Camilleri and Natasha Polidano was lovely and had so much colour !! Nice to see something other than the nude makeup we are so used to seeing on the catwalk nowadays.
I liked the hairstyling by Matthew from Michael and Guy too; I absolutely loved Madeline’s hairstyle below.

For this event, the fashion week team, teamed up with Heritage Malta and local and international museum curators to ensure that this display was as historically correct as possible. Replicas of each item were made and research was conducted to ensure that each item was worn on the catwalk in the exact manner in which it would have been worn in the past.
This pendant below is a replica of one found in Mnajrda Temples, made from limestone, the original cord would have been made from animal skin
This headband made of shells is a replica of one found in Ghar Dalam. In Xaghra Gozo a woman was found buried at the cemetery around 5000 years ago wearing a headress made from cowry shells.
Historically, jewellery in Malta has always been very important. Men and Women wore their jewellery as a
symbol of wealth and pride.

I congratulate who each person who
was involved in some way in the success of this show tonight for bringing the old in focus
with the new and bringing some history to the Malta Fashion Week.
