This week I was invited to the Swarovski opening party at Baystreet Shopping Complex in Malta. The Swarovski brand is represented in Malta by OK Group. Whilst there are already two Swarovski stores in Malta; one in Valletta and another in Sliema; this a larger and more exclusive one, set along “The Crystal Forest” concept, designed for Swarovski by Tokujin Yoshioka.
This new store is absolutely lovely, the design is clean and stylish and gives the impression of an abundance of space and light; the luxury of the crystals is really brought out in this setting. What I was very pleased about is the fact that all the beautiful pieces are displayed in showcase displays around the store; you’re free to wander around at leisure and inspect everything.
Of course, what immediately captured my attention is the new fashion collection – oh my! sparkly handbags, neon bracelets, arm parties..lovely watches…I wasn’t quite sure where to focus my attention.
This necklace below, is one of my favourite pieces in the whole shop – besides being a stunning statement piece, it is really comfortable to wear, the innovative design keeps this piece light, avoiding unnecessary pressure on the neck.
I was very pleased to get the opportunity to speak to Lueder Stercken, the regional manager for Swarovski who was responsible for helping out with the setting up of this new Swarovski shop in Malta. He talked to me in detail about Swarovski’s recent focus on the fashion lines and the work that goes into designing each of these beautiful pieces.
The party itself was a very nice affair with delicious catering by Zest. Overall, a big thumbs up to Roberta Caruana Stivala (the store owner) and Francesca Bianco (the store manager) for this beautiful store that is a wonderful addition to Malta’s fashion and shopping scene.
I suggest you go down to Baystreet and give the store a look, there are different items and a huge range of different price ranges, perfect for buying a gift or just indulging yourself.
