Miss Malta : Spotlight on Miss Malta Winner Jade Cini

As you may recall, I was involved as a blogger in the 2013 Miss Malta Competition. The competition has now ended but I am interviewing a couple of people who were involved in the competition.
Today we meet Jade Cini, the winner and title holder of Miss Malta, so as to get to know her a bit better I have asked her to answer a few questions which she has answered in her own words.

This was not your first venture into the world of beauty
contests, when did you first start and what were the highlights?
I started beauty pageants at the age of 3. My mum was a bit
concerned about me playing with my brother’s toys and she thought I may never
be girly, but I proved her wrong after winning the first contest I entered. I
loved the stage! I would suddenly start posing for photos at the end of the
catwalk which would make everyone laugh. I had short blonde curls and an
attitude on stage! I really liked it and my mum enrolled me in some others but
she always made sure I was natural, and there were no fancy dresses or makeup
involved. My highlights would be MINI MISS MINIATURE OF MALTA in 2000, and MISS
GWIDA.
The Miss Malta competition was given quite a face lift this
year and a number of changes were introduced. How do you feel about these
changes?
I think that Studio7 and all the team behind MISS MALTA had
a big challenge this year, to give it a brand new look and make it even better
than it was. Personally I believe that the fact that this year the contestants
were on TV for 11 weeks before the actual final night, helped them even more to
grow confidence in front of the camera and a live audience.  it was also a good opportunity for the viewers
to get to know more the contestants and the beauty team to see how much
improvement each contestant was willing to do during the weeks, so I think the
changes made were definitely successful.
Were you ever nervous prior to any of the shows?
Nerves are a good feeling prior to an event, it shows you
are enthusiastic and looking forward for it, I always had those couple of
butterflies before I go on stage but then they would disappear as soon as I see
the audience, that’s how I am, I never let nerves get the better of me but I
have to admit that the opening fashion show of the final night made me a bit
more nervous than usual due to the fact that our dresses were not sown  but pinned !!
What do you think identifies “Miss Malta”? Is it
more than just beauty?
Miss Malta in my opinion is much more than just a pretty
face. It is useless being a size 6 and having no idea how to act in front of a
camera or how to speak in the media and react to certain circumstances. It has
to be someone, who regardless of her age is mature and responsible of her acts,
someone who does not complain for every single thing she doesn’t like and who
is always on time. Stage presence is an essential ingredient, other than that I
would say a humble person with a heart of gold. Personality always outshines,
and you can see inner beauty in the way a person acts.
Are you satisfied with the quality of the competition?
I am very satisfied. We have been all treated equally along
the weeks, I took this adventure as a way of making new friends and proving to
myself I can do whatever I work hard for, the sponsors have treated us really
well, we had a full 3 months of pampering and whoever took advantage of them
enjoyed them. Apart from that, the live programmes showed the hard work the
team had put into it. After the contest all results were published and that
showed clearly how fair and just the competition was.
What plans are in store for the winner of Miss Malta 2013?

Now that I am Miss Malta 2013, I am very busy with TV
appearances, interviews and radio shows. I am going to work even harder than I
worked to get to where I am right now, I will keep my feet on the ground and most
importantly have fun! I will be leaving to Germany for Miss Intercontinental in
the beginning of December. I am very looking forward to meeting all the girls
from among 80 different countries, I love exploring different cultures and
meeting new people that have something to offer to me and I will promote my
beautiful country for sure!

Good Luck Jade 🙂
