DINING AT ELECTRO LOBSTER & THE ENTERTAINER

When Electro Lobster Project first opened its doors in Malta, it was literally the talk of the town – part restaurant / part cocktails bar / part club with live music, it’s perfect for a night out. One of its main draws has always been their unique cocktails and their range of spirits, some of which cannot be found elsewhere on the island. As regards the food, I had only ever tried the bar snacks which are pretty yummy but last week I tried the restaurant for the first time.

As mentioned in my previous trips, the Entertainer and I have teamed up for me to try out new activities I haven’t tried before using their 2-4-1 system. I started with a trip to a Fish Spa, had a personal training session on the beachdined at Chapter One and The Villa, had a facial at Carob and now it’s time for Electro Lobster. If you want your own Entertainer, I have a 10% discount for you – simply enter CAROLINE10 in the promo code box in the shopping cart from the website

The Entertainer is a new 2-4-1 membership system that offers different experiences (food / meals / museums at 2-4-1), it differs from others in that it’s not a local company but an international one.

First order of the day was a cocktail of course and both the hubby and I chose a spritzer based one. Electro Lobster change the theme of their signature cocktails every month and for September its a spritz-aholic theme. We were served some delicious garnished hummus to start off with and we made our food choices. The menu includes a selection of different lobster choices, lots of fish options and some meat selections too.
We decided to share a platter of prawn and octopus carpaccio. The prawn carpaccio (below) was garnished with pink peppercorns and micro greens whilst the octopus carpaccio was garnished with lemon oil, cherry tomatoes and micro greens. Micro greens are something used in most of the dishes at Electro Lobster. Both were very flavoursome but my vote went for the prawn carpaccio – it really hit that sweet spot on my taste buds.

The slideshow below has photos of all the various courses and of course – more cocktails. I already mentioned the carpaccio appetisers, this was followed by a lobster bisque soup and warm bread – yum.
I decided to have linguine lobster as a main whilst the hubby went for a shellfish and fish platter. He chose healthy quinoa as a side and I (yes I wanted a side with my pasta – sue me) chose the truffle fries. I’ve tried lobster pasta dishes at various places both in Malta and abroad – it’s one of my favourites – this was a particularly good one. I hate it when that lovely strong taste of lobster is diluted with cream or tomatoes – I want the full flavour of that that powerful taste, that’s why I chose it – this dish was perfect. I stole a piece of one of the hubby’s prawns and it also had a lovely, slightly chargrilled taste, he was pretty pleased with all his food.
The standout item for me was the truffle fries…these are insanely good…I think I ate the whole bowl by myself after the pasta..

For dessert, we shared a lovely vanilla cheesecake that we attacked so gleefully, we sort of forgot to photograph it – take my word for it, it both looks and tastes delic. *Update hubby requested this amendment “Caroline, after protesting that she doesn’t have place for dessert, promptly attacked the dessert as soon as it arrived before ii had time to take a pic”
