London Fashion Week : Day 1 – BORA AKSU

Bora Aksu’s show truly never disappoints. His collection of beautiful dresses for SS16 are practically works of feminine art. The theme for SS16 was infused with childhood memories from family holidays spent at their country house in Izmir, in particular, the ‘golden hour’ of the day, the lighting during sunrise and sunset.

The collection hints at exposed skin but never really commits to it, there’s nothing remotely vulgar about any of his pieces but all are resolutely feminine and quite sexy. The intricate lace workmanship combined with silk tulle, organzas and structured cottons would make any woman feel like a power to be reckoned with. The colour palette is an intriguing one. for SS16 white and black seem to be the two most common colours but I enjoyed the colourful pieces with burnt orange and pinks.
