London Fashion Week and Faustine Steinmetz

After September’s fashion week blog post overload, I decided to give it a bit of a slight pause, I had this feeling u might be, how do I put it ‘fashion weeked’ out. However, I still have lots of different designers and collections to talk about so – the posts will continue, just maybe in a less overloaded manner.
One of the most interesting presentations I went to was Faustine Steinmetz, who decided to break walls and boundaries, literally. There were models statically walking out from and into walls and the effect was mesmerising.

A really great thing about this designer is her ethics, In this age of fast, fast fashion, the idea of sustainable practices and good ethics are increasingly being pushed to the sidelines. Faustine Steinmetz is different, she uses only sustainable fabrics, all her pieces are handwoven and handmade with some pieces taking over a week to weave.
For the SS16 collection, her idea was to take something everyone has in their wardrobe – denim and simple white pieces and transform them into something different, something extraordinary. There are denim jackets – loom-woven over days, coated denim, fashioned into pleats which then became bright-white clutches.

COTTON USA , the global brand of U.S. cotton has a highly coveted LFW sponsorship programme and Faustine Steinmetz is a perfect partner for this programme. Cotton is used extensively throughout this collection and below is a video of her talking about this collection and how she used the material.

The really great thing is that this video features me talking about my favourite pieces in the collection  – so check it out below.
