The Burberry show this year was staged in a slightly different format, a longer and curved catwalk meant more people were closer to the models and thus able to feel like they were participants rather than merely spectators. The setting felt intimate, as we sat, on soft green velvet cushioned benches at the show space in Kensington Gardens.
The collection presented did not follow a specific recurring theme but rather brought together many different ideas and concepts. some of which were masculine tones, seventies concepts, sequinned dresses and beautifully embroidered garments. I always fall in love with the Burberry coats, not just their infamous trench coat but even their tailored wool coats, always so stylish and well tailored. I was especially taken with the navy military style coats with the bold red piping. As is generally the case, everything feels luxurious and covetable. The perfect styling addition was the twisted tights that I can just envision becoming a trend next Winter.
This season, Burberry declared prior to their show that they will start selling their collections immediately after the show. They are also moving away from ‘seasonal’ shows and showing multiple seasons in one show twice a year. Good news for all the impatient buyers out there!
