I’ve been watching Carla’s career grow for a few years now. Being honest, in the initial stages of her career, I didn’t pay her that much attention. I never could seem to make it to her events and I was convinced her work was not my style but boy she’s come a long way from that girl selling scarves outside parties. Her work is elegant and refined and feels mature.
Her fabric choices are excellent and the cuts of the different pieces flowed perfectly on the catwalk. However, Carla’s true speciality is her print creation which she develops using a mix of watercolour techniques, photography, and digital technology. The brush stroke patterns, in navy set on white, in particular, were absolutely superb.
My favourite pieces were the ombre silk ones – the colour combinations blended so perfectly. Another favourite was a pair of bright green, silk lounge pants and of course, the swimsuit modelled by Jacqui Losco. Definite summer must-haves.
