Body Shape Post : Stripes and The Body – VERTICAL & COMBOS

Big, Bold Stripes are all around us…. horizontal ones, vertical ones, this season fashion is literally striped. For some, this might seem to be a scary prospect and a rather daunting one…after all it’s quite easy to go wrong with stripes, but it’s all about being clever and finding the correct balance. Yesterday we found out how to wear horizontal stripes, today the focus is on vertical stripes and we also see how to combine different stripes.
Vertical Stripes
In the case of
vertical stripes, these lengthen upwards rather than widen, so if you want to
appear taller – then this type of stripe is your best friend. A pear should
wear vertical stripes on their lower body but care should be taken to ensure
that the garment does not fit too tight around the hips and bum area such that the
stripes are free to go down in a straight line and do not end up misshaped. An
apple would wear vertical stripes on their upper half; again this garment
should fit loosely so that the stripes remain straight.
Striped Combos
This season is
all about combining patterns and prints and one way to look fresh and fun is to
combine different stripes together.
For the pear the
best combo would be to wear a horizontal striped top with a loose fitting
vertical striped pair of trousers or skirt. For the apple,
the logic is inverted; the upper half should be vertical whilst the lower half
should be horizontal.
Any body shape
can wear a horizontal striped t-shirt with a vertical striped blazer – this is
a very in trend look.
