London Fashion Week – Street Style

I think London street style does not necessarily produce the most beautiful images. The images we see at London Fashion Week are not of outfits as polished as Milan’s or as beautiful as Paris but they are definitely more fearless. There is a certain rebel quality to London’s street style, a disregard for rules or trends. I find London Fashion Week inspirational, just looking at people makes me want to rush back home and put on a different outfit together, incorporating different things I’ve just seen together. The thing about London fashion is that it also generally feels accessible to anyone.

I’m sadly often too busy during fashion week to photograph everything that catches my eyes but this year I’m currently attending Cool Hunting Course at Central St Martins and my assignment throughout London Fashion Week was to photograph people and pick on trends. These are the trends I picked up on – mind length coats, that happy spot between the knee and ankle and on that note statement coats were really popular especially with magazine editors – basically, if you’re wearing a statement coat, you can forget about the rest. Flat footwear especially sneakers, flatforms and androgynous styles – thanking the gods for this gift of comfort. The wide, cropped trousers trend is another very popular one, worn both with bare ankles and socks – it is cold after all. I also spotted a lot of choker necklaces.
