Beauty: Packaging that Whispers your Name – Liquid Assets

I used to say packaging doesn’t count – it’s the product that’s important. Up to a certain point, I still believe in this statement. For example, I will forfeit the expensive packaging of my favourite moisturiser for a salon-sized version selling at a far better price. Sometimes, however, you stumble across certain packaging that speaks to you, that makes you love it from the start.
That was the story with my Australian Gold Liquid Assets.  I’m not even generally into blingy stuff but when the brand asked me to choose two products from the entire Australian Gold range, this one whispered my name, slowly at first but gradually building up into a loud climax.

So what is it?
This product is a harmony of functionality. It groups together the purposes of  a moisturiser, self-tanner, tan builder into one brilliant blingy bottle. These are the ingredients and claims as described by the company below.

Review

As far as a self-tanner goes – it does give colour payoff but it needs to be used daily as it is a build-up not a one-time application. The great thing is it doesn’t streak or make you look like an Oompa Loompa.
The lotion is dark brown and pretty creamy, it does require a bit of time to rub in properly but nothing too major. Skin feels very nicely moisturised after application.
The biggest con is that it does have a bit of an overpowering scent – I actually like it – a hint of burnt oranges but the hubby hates it. He actually making me apply it outside in the courtyard so smell it before you buy it and make sure you like it.
The product is not a tanning oil, neither is it a sunblock, it is basically a tan helper that works be encouraging the skin to produce more dark melanin allowing you to tan quicker but better (without the redness) I tried it on more than one occasion, if you don’t wear sunblock over it – you will get red, not burnt but a bit red… I made this mistake once and regretted it. Malta’s sun and UV rays are way too strong for the melanin alone to protect you. It really works beautifully with sunblock though resulting in a very quick dark chocolate-brown tan. That dark beautiful brown colour that usually comes after repeated visits to the beach.
